About the Organization

Al-Shoka Friends Organization for Agricultural Development

is a Palestinian non-profit civil society organization founded in early 2014 in the village of Shoka – east of Rafah Governorate, in response to the repeated violations committed against agricultural lands and farmers in the border areas by the Israeli occupation, notably land bulldozing and destruction of agricultural infrastructure.

The idea of the organization emerged from a voluntary youth initiative that brought together agricultural engineers and affected farmers, aiming to find mechanisms to alleviate the economic and social suffering of farmers and enable them to restore their productive role. Over time, the initiative evolved into an institutional community-based organization with diverse programs supported by donor agencies, focusing on plant production, livestock, water, environment, and economic empowerment of vulnerable groups.

Vision

To be a leading organization in sustainable rural agricultural development, contributing to strengthening farmers’ resilience and empowering rural communities economically and socially in the southern Gaza Strip.

Mission

To support and empower farmers and rural women in the southern villages, particularly in Shoka and Al-Qarara, through comprehensive development programs in agriculture, water, and empowerment that enhance food security and achieve sustainable economic and social development.
